Poverty has a direct link to poor health as evidenced in the Bronx where families live with significantly higher rates of chronic diseases like asthma, diabetes and heart disease.
Experts on health equity will explore the relationship between income and health disparities, why this matters so much in the Bronx, and the role we can play in improving our patients’ and clients’ experiences when they visit us for services.
Participants will also assume the roles of family members who are living on a limited budget and trying to provide for basic necessities and shelter with the help of community services. Through this powerful exercise, they will experience the challenges and difficult choices families make to maintain their fundamental needs and the affect it has on their health and access to care.
This program is open to all PPS members. We encourage you to register and offer this opportunity to all staff members who would benefit from this program.
