Dr. Appelbaum came to SBH Health System in a combined emergency medicine and internal medicine program in 1997 and was most recently Deputy Chief Medical Officer. He previously served SBH as Associate Medical Director, Emergency Department Director and Director of the Osteopathic Internal Medicine Residency Program. He has been the physician leader for two successful PCMH applications, achieving Level 3 for the SBH ambulatory center. Dr. Appelbaum received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and earned his medical degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he is currently a clinical assistant professor of Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. In 2014, he received the Bronx County Medical Society’s “Peer to Peer” Excellence in Medicine Recognition Award.
