Bronx Emotional Wellness (BEW) is partnering with the Department of Health to provide two mental resiliency workshops on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 11:00am to 1:00pm and again at 1:30pm called COVID-19 Community Conversations: Mental Health, Equity, and Resilience. These trainings are a 60-minute informational virtual presentation on potential mental health impacts, relevant coping skills, and available resources. This session will cover topics such as grief, trauma, coping, and resilience in addition to mental health tips.

2:15 pm: Community Research Academy through Weill Cornell Medicine

Weill Cornell Medicine is inviting Bronx residents in understanding and becoming a part of the clinical and translational research process through the Community Research Academy (CRA) . The Community Research Academy is a FREE online course with self-paced learning meant to introduce community members to the translational research process, which is research that starts in scientific labs and extends to the bedsides of the sick.

3:00 pm: New York City's Accelerating Overdose Epidemic: Help Put Data Into Action

Recent data released by the CDC and the NYC DOHMH demonstrates that the overdose epidemic is worsening in NYC and nationwide, with increases in overdose deaths driven by the increased presence of fentanyl. In response, the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is organizing a Town Hall to share actionable strategies people who use drugs, providers, and community partners can take to reduce overdose deaths and raise awareness of the increased risk of overdose due to fentanyl.

Raise awareness of the increased risk of overdose due to fentanyl
Share harm reduction messages and fentanyl materials for community partners to amplify
