2020 Health Bucks Application Available

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has announced that the 2020 Application for Free Health Bucks is now available.

Not-for-profit organizations may apply for Health Bucks to distribute to members of your community this summer and fall. Health Bucks are $2 coupons that can be used to purchase fruits and vegetables at all NYC farmers markets. The COVID-19 pandemic is taking a heavy toll on New Yorkers’ ability to access healthy affordable food and Health Bucks fill a critical need by making fresh produce more affordable.

To ensure safety during the COVID-19 crisis, organizations are not required to conduct in-person nutrition and health education activities as part of their Health Bucks distribution plan this year. Instead, organizations are encouraged to share web-based or other electronic nutrition and health resources when possible.

To ensure coupon redemption, Health Bucks should be distributed to individuals who will use them and as close to a farmers’ market as possible. Farmers markets are operating throughout the city this summer and fall and have implemented robust public health protocols to ensure shopper safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

You may apply electronically at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2020CBOHealthBucks. Alternatively, you may submit the participation agreement and application that can be found in this link by emailing it to farmersmarkets@health.nyc.gov.
