“Social Determinants and the Law” Training Helps Connect Patients to Legal Services

BPHC’s fall training series is underway, including our newest training — Social Determinants and the Law — where we have received excellent feedback from participants who have found the information and materials to be especially valuable in helping their patients.

Many of the social and environmental conditions affecting our community members’ health can be addressed through legal solutions.

This new one-day course, developed by LegalHealth and BPHC, helps patient advocates understand and recognize when their patients or clients may need legal assistance or intervention to address issues like housing, immigration and domestic violence.

Participants will learn to recognize when a legal referral for legal services may be helpful and will be provided with a comprehensive Bronx Legal Resource list to assist with referrals.
